Young adult fiction should be less complicated than adult fiction and poetry, so the rate is the lowest. Nonetheless, I will still give the same amount of effort and provide the same amount of care when proofreading young adult fiction.
Adult fiction will have the most complicated storylines, heavier content matter, and stronger vocabulary than young adult fiction. It will also be denser and usually longer than poetry, so the rate equals these considerations.
Poetry may have more advanced language and concepts than young adult fiction, but it will be less dense and shorter than adult fiction. More reads will be necessary for all poetry pieces as they are not cohesive narratives most of the time, so the rate reflects the necessity for these extra reads.
This is the expected rate for written text flyers, newsletters, and other written advertisements. To be prepared for the final rate with other element proofing included, make sure to have a clear plan of what you want checked, what questions you have, and what message you are trying to convey with your ads.
This rate will be less flexible as the majority of the proofing in this category will take place in written text. However, for charts, graphs, and other elements, outside research and number checking will not take place. Basic formatting, appearance, and meeting rubric criteria will be part of the proofing.
I have experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite, so I prefer these sites for proofreading. However, if you use an alternative writing tool, we can discuss how to proceed with the proofreading process through my learning or document conversion.
Email is the best way to contact me before, during, and after the proofreading process. I check my email multiple times throughout the day, so I will hopefully get back to you within a few hours if any comments or concerns arise.
My expectation for proofreading story pieces is to proofread ten pages per hour. For poetry, depending on the density, this will be fifteen to twenty pages per hour. For business documents, depending on the nonwritten elements, there is a broader range of pager per hour, but it will match stories with about ten pages per hour for straightforward documents.
